The idea:

Back in 2017, we worked with our client, Hopper HQ, the Instagram scheduling and planning tool, to create a celebrity and influencer ‘Instagram Rich List’.

The list included celebrities like Selena Gomez, the Kardashian/Jenner sisters and Cristiano Ronaldo, with each ranked based on the average amount they charge brands for sponsored posts. When we packaged it up into a news story and issued to our contacts, it was a huge hit!

For 2018, the ‘Instagram Rich List’ campaign had gained real momentum after the first year and generated even more results!

That’s why for us it was a no-brainer to work with Hopper HQ on the ‘Instagram Rich List’ 2019.

Every year, Hopper HQ uses its own data and external research to pull together the list and hosts the full results on its site. This year, and for the second in a row, Kylie Jenner topped the list, with the beauty mogul charging just over £1m per post!

Once the list was ready and on Hopper HQ’s site, we wrote a press release with the top 10 celebrities and top 5 influencers, with a link to the full list of 100 on Hopper HQ’s site.

We then issued to wide to our relevant contacts in the UK and US. As we expected the story was a huge hit and did even better than the 2017 and 2018 campaigns!

What Hopper HQ said:

Mike Bandar, Hopper HQ’s co-founder said: “The Instagram Rich List worked amazingly in 2017, the first year we rolled it out, and that’s why we decided to do it again for 2018 and then for this year.

“In a social media and celebrity-obsessed world, the Rich List has been a hit with the world’s best known media and has been shared by people across the globe. It’s amazing how much money influencers and celebs can earn through just one post!

“Given Hopper HQ is an Instagram scheduling and planning tool, the Rich List directly relates back to what we do, and we think it’s gained real momentum each year!

“Since 2017, Radioactive PR has really helped us to bring this campaign to life. This year we achieved even more coverage than previous years, with 250 pieces and over half of them linking to our site, including from the Mail Online, Mirror, Fox News and MSN. Traffic was up by a third compared to last year too! We can’t wait to see how 2020’s Rich List pans out!”
